Horse To Be Raffled

A yearling racehorse is to be raffled throughout New Zealand to raise money for the publicity expenses of Commonwealth Games Promotion (New Zealand). Announcing this in Christchurch on Friday the secretary (Mr R. S Scott) said that the horse, a trotter by Johnny Globe out of Min Scott, was considered to be very valuable. Tickets would go on sale next month and the raffle would be drawn in March, 1970. The organisation was fored to try to bring the Commonwealth Games to Christchurch in 1974. Talks are being held with the Government in the hope of getting $250,000 towards the games expenses. In addition, $20,000 is required by next July for promotion and publicity. The winner of the raffle will be able to take cash to the value of the horse, if this is desired.
