Members of a Christchurch old boys’ Rugby team, on tour in Fiji, kept other guests at a Suva private hotel awake until 5 a.m. Members of the team, on their last night in Suva, went out to celebrate and On their way back to the South Seas Hotel just after midnight held an impromptu concert on the road outside before invading the hotel in noisy batches, guests said. For three hours from 2 a.m. they sang, Shouted, drummed on the hotel’s wooden Walls and ran up and down the stairs and along corridors, Ignoring the protests of other guests and of the hotel proprietor, Mr G. Innes.
One guest, Miss E. Askin, of Petone, said that ohe man, obviously very drunk, stood in the middle of the corridor at 4.30 a.m. and for 10 minutes howled at the top of his voice. Mr Innes said next morning: “Christchurch Old Boys is the last Rugby team we will book into our hotel.”
The manager of the team (Mr R. G. Cochrane) told a “Fiji Times” reporter that he had spoken to the people involved. He had no other comment
