I (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEWMARKET (England). Miss Hazel Cook, aged 25, of Norfolk, won the 300th running !of the Newmarket Town Plate—the only English flat race open i to women riders. Miss Cook rode the 2/1 second favourite. Renardier, which just outpaced Kulumidia in the closing stage of the historic race, which was inaugurated durinr the reign of King Charles 11. By winning the race, run over three miles and three-quarters Miss Cook received several prizes, including a magnum of champagne and a box of Newmarket sausages.
