NS. Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH. Competitors in the New Zealand women’s golf championship at New Plymouth next week will play the first two days to the accompaniment of automatic weapon fire on a neighbouring Army range. A company of New Plymouth Boys’ High School cadets will hold their annual bren gun shoot on the range next Wednesday and Thursday, the opening two days of the women’s golf championships.

However, the women golfers, who may have their concentration upset, have been assured there is no fear of anyone on the links being nicked by a stray bullet An Army spokesman said that golfers were in no danger.
