ADDRESS ON DIABETES

Head Of Swiss Institute

Trends in diabetic research will be the subject of an address in Christchurch next week by Dr A. Renold, professor and director of the Institute of Chemical Biochemistry at the University of Geneva. The meeting has been arranged by the Christchurch Diabetes Society and the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation.

Dr Renold is visiting New Zealand under the auspices of the New Zealand Postgraduate Medical Federation, the University of Otago, and the New Zealand Diabetic Association. This week he is presenting papers on fat and carbohydrate metabolism, with special reference to diabetic mellitus, at the University of Otago Faculty of Medicine.

Dr Renold will spend several days in Christchujch before going to Auckland, and as well as giving his address here he will speak to the local post-graduate society. Some seats were available to the public for Dr Renold’s address in the Canterbury University Hall, on October 8, the president of the Christchurch Diabetes Society (Mr E. Blain), said yesterday. Persons wishing to attend should ring the secretary of the society at 899-913, or the secretary of the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation, telephone 65-369.
