WYN IRWIN HUT
Greater Use Planned The Canterbury Mountaineering Club’s Wyn Irwin Hutt near Mount Cook will be available to other groups and members and their wives for part of each year as the result of a motion passed with only one dissenting voice at the club’s annual meeting. Fifty-nine members attended the meeting which agreed with the recommendation Of a sub-committee set up two years ago to consider the feasibility of allowing the Wyn Irwin Hut to be used by other groups so that it should receive wider use. The hut will be available to outside groups and family parties between May and September. Some of the facilities win have to be improved and the hut tidied up. Mr P. Gough reported on the activities of the Christchurch high-level face rescue team during the last year and said that practices had been held at least once a month, with a recent exercise with the Canterbury ski patrol in the Craigieburn Valley. He said that there had been excellent cooperation from the police who were looking after the team’s equipment. Officers elected were:— Patron, Mr E. R. Williams; president, Mr G.
