Mrs Gandhi On Tour
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) TEZPUR (India), Sept. 21. The Indian Prime Minister (Mrs Indira Gandhi) flew into Tezpur today to begin a fiveday tour of the country’s frontier areas in the North-east
It was announced yesterday that she had cancelled her visit to Assam State because of the tense situation there after widespread demonstrations to back demands for a new oil refinery. But she flew to Tezpur by special plane, and later went on to Shillong, the State capital, for talks with political leaders. She said later that she hoped the present agitation would not take a serious turn. During the next five days Mrs Gandhi will go to the border States of Tripura, Manipur and Nagaland. She cancelled a visit to the frontier agency area, but nb reason was given. .
