OVERSEAS CALL FOR SCOUT.—Maxwell Cawte, aged 12, of Ashburton, receiving a telephone call from the World Scout Conference in Helsinki, Finland, on Tuesday evening, advising him that he had won a world-wide contest to name a fund to aid scouting development projects. He is shown with the chief executive commissioner of the Scout Association of New Zealand (Mr S. O. Field). The telephone call was amplified to a large gathering of scouting officials and invited guests. Maxwell’s suggested title for the fund was "Scout Universal Fund” and it was selected by the conference from hundreds of suggestions from scouts all over the world. His prize is a trip to the 1971 scout jamboree in Japan.
