Construction has started on an Stint factory In Turkey which will produce Eaton axles and gearboxes for commercial vehicles. Production will include two-speed axles and flvespeed gearboxes. The factory will have a production capacity of 24,000 axles and the same number of gearboxes a year. Another variation on the Transit range -of commercial vehicles has been announced by Ford of Britain. Called the Transit “Baby Tippers,” the' vehicles are available In two basic versions: a 1.5 cu. yard tipper powered by a 1700 c.c. petrol engine or a 1760 c.c. diesel, and a 2 cir. yard vehicle with a 2000 c.c. petrol engine. Both vehicles have heavy-duty chassis and heavy-duty suspension. Single-ram electro-hydrau-lic tipping gear is used on both models. The angle of tip Is 45 degrees.
