One Seat Only

Mr P. J. Wedderspoon, the Dunedin student who announced earlier this'year that he would stand for 12 seats simultaneously at the election, and later reduced the number to seven, will now contest the Oamaru seat only. He will stand as a Democratic Labour candidate. Mr Wedderspoon, who is 23, decided to withdraw from six electorates on medical grounds. He had been advised that his health would be in serious danger if he attempted to contest all the seats. Mr Wedderspoon was partly crippled by osteomyelitis when he was a boy and still has a disability in one leg.
