FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —An intense anticyclone over south-east Australia is spreading slowly on to the Tasman Sea. A shallow depression is moving from the west across central New Zealand. Forecast:
Canterbury.—South-westerlies, fresh at first in exposed places, but moderating; slowly clearing, but remaining cold. Marlborough and Nelson.—Light or moderate winds, mainly between south and east; cold and changeable, with scattered showers.
Buller and Westland.—Light variable winds; some showers about the ranges, but for the most fine, though cold. Outlook: fair and cool.
