OPENING TO TRADE

International Fair (N.Z. Pre** Association) AUCKLAND, August 19. The International Trade Fair will open to trade interests tomorrow, with the Epsom Show Grounds looking spick and span after a $300,000 face-lift. The 23 overseas countries exhibiting at the fair, which covers an area of 160,000 sq. ft, have spent $250,000 on design and reconstruction of their display areas. The fair organising committee has spent about $50,000 on new facilities. Among the major items of expenditure for the committee was the provision of the Captain Cook centrepiece, which will be the focal point of the fair. Mounted on a stand which depicts the voyages of 1 Cook, Die statue will revolve in the middle of a sunken garden. The public will be admitted on Saturday. The fair will end on September 6.
