correctly on th* limit of the cup. He missed two vital runs the week before his race last Saturday and in the circumstances I was delighted with the way he went,” he said. Leroy came through the race in fine style and be is expected to be much improved when he contests the Hillmorton Handicap on the second day of the meeting. Although nothing definite has been decided, it is probable that Leroy will remain in Christchurch for th* A. E. Laing Handicap at th* New Brighton meeting on September 6. "There are three race* for him at Hutt Park starting on September 10. I will stop there on the way home, but h* will only etart once,” said Goodyer. After the New Zealand Cup meeting it le Intended to prepare Leroy for the Auckland Cup meeting in December. A visit to th* Inter-Dominion Campionships in Melbourne in February would depend on the views of hi* regular driver, A. K. Holmes, regarding such a trip, said Goodyer. Leroy's dam, Lesayre, has remained in Canterbury since last spring. She is in foal to Local Light, the sire of Leroy, and will this spring be mated with Bachelor Hanover.
