HIGHSCHOOL STAFFING
Petition By Teachers (N.Z. Press Association* WHANGAREI, Aug. 20. “Next y»ir I may have to allocate the staff I have to the number of classes they can teach—and the rest will be untaught,” the principal of Kamo High School (Mr H. W. Spragg) told members at a meeting of the Whangarei High School’s board of governors.
The board was discussing a ■ petition signed by 124 . Whangarei secondary schoolteachers. urging a “crash programme” for improvement in education. Mr Spragg said he did not i believe many, if any, teachi ers would be prepared to take [ after-hour classes for ancthet I year. He described his staffing r situation as “desperate."
