INJURED ARM

B. Fairlie Returns (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The New Zealand Davis Cup player, B. E. Fairlie, returned to Auckland from Philadelphia yesterday with an arm injury that will probably prevent him playing on the Australian tennis .circuit in December. Fairlie sustained his injury in a tournament about a month before Wimbledon and played with it until last Week when he withdrew from a tournament in Merion, Philadelphia, to return home. He will have treatment in Auckland for two months during which he will limit his training to some light running. Commenting on his performances overseas this year, Fairlie said he thought he had done “a bit better" than last year. His best performance, he said, was winning the London hard-court tournament, beating G. R. Stilwell, M. A. Cox and R. K. Wilson in the process. Fairlie will start intensive training again in about two months and will take part in the New Zealand tournament circuit in late December and January.
