Plane Hits Power Line

(N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI, August 15. A Feildlng pilot escaped injury today when his aircraft struck and severed a 110,000-volt power line, ripping gaping holes tn both wings of the aircraft Four towns were blacked out for about 30 minutes when the top-dressing aircraft collided with the line over the Rangittkei River, near Hunterville, at 5.45 p.m.

The pilot, Mr G. H. M. Hetterscheid, kept control of the aircraft He headed for the nearest airfield, at Ohingaitl. But the plane was still airworthy and after a brief inspection there he flew it back to its base at Feiiding. The power-line made a one foot six Inch gash in in the aircraft’s right wing and a foot-long in the left wing.
