Rainbow, No Chance (N.ZFA. Staff Correspondent i PLYMOUTH. The Auckland sloop Rainbow II has no chance now of winning the 600-mile Fastnet race. To win on corrected time she had to pass the finish line at Plymouth by llmiß 48sec past 8 o’clock yesterday morning. There was still no wind and conditions off both Bishop Rock and Lizard Rock were reported to be flat calm.

The position of the British cutter Crusade as over-all leader was usurped when an Admiral’s Cup boat, Red Rooster (United States), crossed the line at 3.50 a.m_ She is now leading the field with the corrected time of 91 hr 38min 37sec. Crusade is second and Ragamuffin, an Australian Admiral’s Cup boat, third.
