RICKETS IN WELLINGTON

Health Dept Concerned (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 14. The Health Department is planning to study the nutrition of children as a result of eight cases of rickets reported in the Wellington Hospital area in the last 14 months. Four of the children are Maoris, two are Indian and two Pacific Islanders. The department is concerned that a nutritional deficiency disease such as rickets can appear in a developed welfare state. It believes that to prevent, the disease more education in infant welfare is necessary, particularly among Polynesians. ■ 1* L "
