Islands Not Wanted
The Lyttelton Harbour Board yesterday agreed with its solicitors that it should advise the Marine Department that it did not want control of the foreshores of islands in the harbour. If the board assumed control it would also become involved in responsibilities, the solicitors wrote. It could be faced with demands for the repair or dismantling of disused jetties and subject to pressures to grant permits for the erection of slipways and boat sheds.
