More Use Of TV In Election Coverage

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 6. The N.Z.B.C.’s pre-election coverage this year would include greater use of television than in 1966, and nation-wide broadcasts in both television and radio, the chairman of the corporation, Major-General W. S. McKinnon, said today.

He said that as a result of two conferences with the political leaders representing parties in Parliament, the N.Z.B.C. was now in a position to complete its schedule of broadcasts to provide preelection coverage. Details would be published as soon as possible. He said programmes of special interest directed towards the campaign would be arranged. In addition to the times specifically allotted to parties, the N.Z.B.C. would, in its current affairs programmes, such as “Gallery,” “Compass,” “Checkpoint” and “Point of View,” provide additional out-

lets for comment on political issues, including those of minor parties.
