PLANT AT AIRPORT
Start Next Month Co-ordinated Enterprises, Ltd, hoped to begin construction of its proposed 860,000 meat processing plant at Christchurch Airport next month, said the chairman of directors (Mr T. G. Maxwell) in Christchurch yesterday. He said that this action was dependent on the completion of working drawings and of their acceptance by the com-
pany. Mr Maxwell said that the company hoped to have the plant fully operative by the end of the year, possibly in late November. The company was in the process of registering as a public company and changing its name to Air Foods (N.Z.), Ltd. Two months ago one of the company’s directors, Mr K. A. Rutherford, of Hawarden, said it was expected that a major portion of the company’s shares would be taken up by the farming community. Yesterday the board, which met in Christchurch, was informed that considerable interest had been Shown in the venture even from individuals in the North Island. Mr Maxwell, who has just returned from a tour overseas, told the board that several favourable contracts were pending in the United Kingdom and in the Pacific.
