Plane Crash In Andes
(N.Z.P.A .-Reuter—Copyright) BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 5. A United States Navy aircraft carrying 16 people has crashed in the Andes on a flight from Santiago to Chile. A United States Embassy spokesman said that the Douglas C 47 was believed to have come down in the snow-swept region between Talca and Curico, on the Chilean side of the mountainous border with Argentina.
Chilean rescue planes searching the area have not yet found the wreckage. The plane left Santiago at 4.40 p.m., and radio contact
with it was lost about half an - hour later.
