FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anticyclone east of the North Island is moving away eastwards; a frontal zone is moving rather slowly eastwards on to the North Island. Forecast: Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast.— loderate variable winds; scattered showers in the Alps, otherwise partly cloudy; moderate .ifternoon temperatures. Marlborough, except the Kaikoura Coast. -North-westerlies, fresh to strong, but decreasing; partly cloudy; moderate day temperatures. Nelson.—Moderate variable winds; rain early; mainly fine; moderate temperatures. West Coast.—Moderate variable winds; variable skies; scattered showers; cool. Outlook: a few showers in western areas, otherwise partly cloudy weather.
