j Half-Share In Narcotic Narcotic, winner of six races last season for Mr and Mrs G. H. Murfitt, Jnr, of Riccarton, will do his future racing in Australia. Mr and Mrs Murfitt have sold a half-share in the four-year-old to Mr B. R. Hedley, of Caulfield, Melbourne. Mr Hedley, the principal of one of the biggest contracting firms in Australia, flew to Christchurch last week-end with his trainer, T. Hughes, and made an unsuccessful offer of $30,000 for Meldie before the Riccarton four-year-old brilliantly won the Winter Cup.
the negotiations for Narcotic were made by Mr G. L. Tucker, of the South Pacific i Bloodstock Agency in association with Mr D. B. Clarkson, of Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd. Narcotic will be shipped to Australia later this month and Hughes plans to prepare him for summer racing in Melbourne.
Mr Murfitt plans to fly to Melbourne next week-end and negotiations may be continued there for his hurdler, Sun Bank, which was a recent winner there.
