B. Kirkness, the Canterbury billiards champion, will defend his provincial snooker title in the final against R. Franks in the association’s rooms in Bedford Row on Saturday evening. Franks is a former New Zealand snooker title-holder and has also previously held the Canterbury championship. In the semi-finals this week, Kirkness beat L. Rolleston, 3-1, and Franks defeated T. Mintrom, 3-0. Results of the quarterfinals were: Franks 3, G. Gardner 2; Kirkness 3, W. Adams 1; Mintrom 3, C. Kelly 2; Rolleston 3,. D. Gow 1.
