U.S. Machines On Trial
(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 28. A portable and long-lasting artificial kidney developed in the United States will be tried in Auckland. If successful, it will cut treatment costs and make easier the use of such equipment in a patient's own home. Two of the machines have been bought at a eost of 3U5125, provided by the Churchill ■ Memorial Trust They were watched closely in use in the United States by Mr W. A. Howard-Taylor, charge technician at the renal dialysis unit in Auckland Hospital, who has returned from a study tour in 14 countries. Mr Howard-Taylor said he felt the new machines were highly satisfactory. The essential components could be rebuilt after each use.
