WEAK MARKET CONTINUES, LEADERS DOWN AGAIN

The New Zealand sharemarket fell further yesterday. Falls outnumbered rises by two to one, leaders were down again, and the overseas list was weak. Some sharp movements contrasted with the generally steady tone in more active trading.

Tasman, which had not traded for some days, suffered the biggest fall in the local list when it sold 20c down at 1060 c. Tolley’s fall —lsc to 55c—was much sharper proportionally, however. Apart from Tasman, the weak leaders included U.E.8., K.P. Drug, N.Z. Forest, Alex Harvey, all down 3c, and

t Rothmans, 5c lower at 220 c. - New Zealand Insurance also i lost 3c, to 418 c, and South ; British sold 2c down at 531 c. I Medical Chambers, Indus- - trial Gases and Tappenden each fell sc, while Wallace : notes and Arthur Yates new , lost 4c to 66c and 163 c. All rises were small among I listed stocks, but two unofficial

issues stood out in the market. Brierley continued to climb with a 14c rise to 114 c, and T. J. Edmonds, at present bidding for Henry Berry, gained 10c to trade at 435 c. Australian shares continued to trade down, with losses of 110 c for Western Mining, 30c for C.S.R. Aust, and 19c for Woolworths. A.C.I. gained 5c to 265 c.
