The Canterbury Men’s Basketbail Association will lose one of its brightest young administrators when J. Riley leaves for America on Saturday. He has been awarded an international grant from the

Ford Foundation and will study for a Ph.D. in economics at the Institute of Technology at Boston, Massachusetts. He expects to be away for at least three years. Riley, who is a lecturer in economics at the University of Canterbury, has played A grade men’s basketball for Old Maroons for the last four years and for two seasons played representative basketball for Canterbury B. He is serving his first year on the ex-

ecutlve and his last contribution to the sport before leaving will be to act as commentator for the live telecast match between Canterbury and Otago at Cowles Stadium on Saturday.
