Collectors Abused

Sir, More • objectionable than the abuse by businessmen is the audacity of the collectors who expect others to pay for their free holiday to Beirut. A genuine charity is something which all will support, but too many seem to think that City Council, Government, business, Golden Kiwi, etc., should pay for every little world trip of every orchestra, club, sport and society in existence. We are too keen to expect subsidies and donations; to do anything, in fact, other than pay our own way for our entertainments or interests.— Yours, etc., \ A YOUNG MAN. July 26, 1969.
