South Brighton Bridge

| Sir,—May I protest about | the further delay in the replacement of the dangerous South Brighton bridge and approaches at Bridge Street? Although representations from local residents have been made over many years the i original substandard structure still stands, with a traffic density now reaching dangerous levels for such -a narrow bridge. Numerous collisions with railings over the last few months indicate the dangers and it is only a matter of time before a serious and perhaps fatal collision will occur. It is to be hoped that the Christchurch City Council’s priority for bridge reconstruction can bear close scrutiny should such a fatality occur.— Yours, etc., RATEPAYER. July 25, 1969.
