(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. Lancashire scored its ninth successive win in the English Sunday cricket league when it beat Middlesex by six wickets. The win kept Lancashire at the top of the table after only I one defeat in 11 games. H.! Pilling scored his fifth half-: century in the new league,! contributing 59 of the 92 runs, needed to beat Middlesex.

The county championship' leader, Gloucestershire, lost, by seven wickets against Not-; tinghamshire. The West Indian medium-paced bowler, C. Forbes, took five for 23 as Gloucestershire lost its last five wickets for seven runs.

Essex, second in the league table, lost by two wickets against Somerset in spite of a hard-hit 46 in 52 minutes by the West Indian all-rounder, K. Boyce. The former M.C.C. chairman of selectors, D.
