Authority’s Meeting

(N.I. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 28. The Broadcasting Authority would meet soon but the day could not be revealed to the public, the authority’s chairman, Mr R. T. Garlick, said from Auckland tonight. Asked when the authority would discuss applications for private broadcasting stations, Mr Garlick said “We don’t say when, but it is soon.” The authority had not yet decided when it would consider the network proposed by four major firms, United Empire Box Industries, Wright, Stephenson and Company, Watties Canneries, and Kerridge Odeon, Mr Garlick said The authority had not decided whether the network proposal would be discussed before or after the other applications. “When we have the information, we will tell the publie,” Mr Garlick said.
