Wheat Exports Drop
Australia's exports of wheat dropped by more than 1.5 million tons in the last financial year, to 4.8 million tons. Figures released by the Commonwealth Statistician today show that the biggest buyer of wheat during the year was Communist China, which took 1.16 million tons. This, however, was well below the previous year’s 2.3 million tons. Japan increased its imports from Australia from 602,248 tons to 1.12 million tons in 1968-69.—Can-berra, July 28.
