Appeal Total $35,764

The total amount raised by the North Canterbury Red Cross Centre from its house-to-house appeal and annual market in May was $35,784. After expenses, the net resu't was expected to be $30,856, the secretary-man-ager (Mr R. J. Lipscombe) said at the annual meeting of the centre.

This year was the first time a house-to-house collection had been held by the Red Cross. It replaced the street appeal.

Mr Lipscombe said the annual, market raised $3332 and collections totalled $28,729. The rest of the money was paid into the office, raised by “instant” radio requests, or was from sponsored advertising.
