COMPUTING CENTRE Applications are Invited for the position of: SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER Candidates should have a University degree, and a thorough working knowledge of a programming language, e.g. FORTRAN. A knowledge of an operating system and the IBM System 360 computer would also be an advantage. The duties will mainly consist of assisting with courses in programming languages, particularly FORTRAN and PL/I, advising staff and students on using the available facilities, and generally assisting with the dav to day operation of the Computing Centre, including maintenance of the operating system and associated programme packages. Research in some branch of Computer Science will be encouraged. Salary and status of this academic appointment will be equivalent to that of Assistant Lecturer, the salary range of which is currently 82500-82900, though a major review of salaries is to be undertaken later this year.
