N.Z. Visit Next Month ’ A leading American authority on the application of computer processes to management will visit Christchurch and other centres next month. He is Mr H. W. Nelson, manager of the management sciences section of the Burroughs Corporation's development division. His department is responsible for the design and implementation of all “software” for Burroughs computers. This covers such fields as scientific and engineering systems, operations research, financial management systems, industrial management, information science, statistical analysis systems, hospitals, file management systems and simulation techniques. The department also provides a consulting service to < computer users in the field of management science design and development Mr Nelson, who was previously a member of the research staff of the Rand Corporation, will address a meeting in Christchurch on August 4. After his New Zealand visit he will be guest speaker at a computer conference in Australia.
