FLIGHTS TO MOON
Airline Makes Application
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter— Copyright) WASHINGTON, July 25.
Trans World Airlines applied yesterday for Government permission to run a commercial passenger service to the moon.
The airiine filed an application with the United States Civil Aeronautics Board for a route “between points in the United States and points on the moon.”
T.WA. did not say when it hoped to start a commercial service to the moon, or what type of equipment it would use.
The airline said that the application was "not an idle gesture,” because the flight of Apollo 11 had proved such a service would be practical in the future. T.W.A. said it had received thousands of requests for reservations to the moon.
