Christchurch Visit

The Bishop in Polynesia (the Rt Rev. J. T. Holland) will be in Christchurch from August 2 to 6 during a visit to New Zealand to speak on the problems in his diocese and to explain to New Zealand friends how they can help. He will arrive in Christchurch from Wellington on August 2, and in the evening he will meet the Christchurch Polynesian Committee and members of the Friends of Polynesia in the board room of Church House. Mrs Holland will also be present. At 10 a.m. the next day, Bishop Holland will preach at a service of Holy Communion at the Heathcote Church and at 11 a.m. he will preach at a service of choral eucharist in Christchurch Cathedral. This service will be broadcast. At 7 p.m. he will preach at the Church of St John the Baptist at Rangiora during a service of evensong.

He will leave Christchurch on August 6, for Wellington, where he will attend the Bishops’ conference. Bishop Holland, who was formerly Bishop of Waikato, was enthroned as Bishop in Polynesia in Suva on April 13.
