LOSS OF BOATS

Formal Inquiry Ordered (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 21. A formal inquiry into the loss of the Nelson fishing vessels Golden Joy and Golden Dawn on April 16 this year, during a voyage from the Chatham Islands to Nelson, has been ordered by the Minister of Marine (Mr Scott). Mr J. W. P. Watts, S.M, of Nelson, would conduct the inquiry which was set down for hearing in Nelson early in October, and Captain E. G. Boyack, deputy nautical adviser, would superintend the management of the case, Mr Scott said.

The names of the assessors appointed to assist the court will be announced soon.

The Minister has also ordered a formal inquiry into the loss of the Kea and La Paloma at the Chathams about June 12, 1969. This inquiry would be held in Christchurch late in October and more details would be released when these were completed.
