Summer Flight, will give his owners, trainer and jockey a notable double if. as expected, he wins the Grand National Steeple, three miles and one furlong, at Flemington today. Summer Flight, owned jointly by Mr W. J. Broderick and Mr J. W. Condon, trained by the former New Zealander. T. R. Howe, and to be ridden by the New Zealand jockey, M. Laurence. is a firm favourite tor the 120,000 event. Last Saturday the New Zea-land-bred Brother Bart won the Grand National Hurdle for the same team. Summer Flight, luxuriously weighted on Ost 131 b, carried lost 111 b at his last start when he easily won the Hillside Steeple (2m) at Sandown on June 21. This week. Summer Flight’s owners confirmed they were negotiating with American interests who were interested in buying the seven-year-old gelding as a prospect for the equestrian events at the 1972 Olympics.
