Country Party
Sir,—l would like to thank you for your assurance of space for our party’s views during the election. We do not and never have claimed unlimited access to your paper, but do request fair and reasonable reporting. As the N.Z.B.C. saw fit to fly the “Gallery” team to Hamilton for our convention, it would appear only reasonable to ex-
pect leading newspapers to devote some space to reporting it. An informed public could then draw their own conclusions as to whether we are merely a vote-splitting party as you and, by coincidence, the National Party claim. Surely you are not so naive as to expect us to disclose our party membership at this vital time, just to gain access to your paper. The fact that 60 delegates from all parts of New Zealand attended our convention is surely proof enough that we are indeed a political party.— Yours, etc., T. M. F. TAYLOR. Dominion president, N.Z. Country Party.
Windwhistle, July 8, 1969. [Any details of membership figures supplied to support a claims to space in our columns would be regarded as confidential.— Ed., "The Press.”] •
