The Templeton Golf Club has a ' new professional—T. Kelso, who has taken
over from W. R. Cant. Originally from Auckland, Kelso has been a professional’ golfer for eight yean- For much of this time he was assistant at the Remuera club before taking up an appointment with the. Northern Wairoa dub,, in North Auckland. During his . two years in the north he
taught golf at 18 courses, touring a wide area in a van.
For the last 12 months he has been a professional in a sports store in Tauranga. Kelso did not play any amateur golf, but he has taken part in a number of tournaments on the sponsored circuit. Although he has not been among the big money winners he has usually
had the satisfaction of qualifying for the final 36 holes.
Next summer he plans to play in the Christchurch Garden City Classic, but his participation in other tournaments is uncertain. His immediate reaction to his new surroundings is favourable. “The greens » at Templeton are the best I have seen anywhere in New Zealand,” he said yesterday.
