I If found guilty, they could |be given a maximum sentence lof one year’s imprisonment, lor a fine of 200 rand (about 3NZ248).

During the 88 days of the hearing, the prosecution called 105 witnesses, and the defence, 16. The trial record of about 1,300,000 words covered 4974 foolscap pages.
