CARRIER LOSES WHEELS

The driver of this five-ton bulk-concrete carrier escaped with only minor bruising when it overturned yesterday afternoon, spun round and threw him through the windscreen. Mr John Wright was driving north along Marshland Road with about a cubic yard and a half of plasterers mortar when the truck lost its left rear dual wheels about half a mile south of the Prestons Road intersection. The truck tipped on its side and spun round, facing the direction from which it had come. Just before it stopped on the eastern side of the road Mr Wright was thrown through the windscreen. Marshland Road traffic was restricted to one lane for about three-quarters of an hour as two breakdown trucks slewed the truck round before righting it. For about 15 minutes the road was blocked as the truck was righted and placed on the back of one of the breakdown trucks. The truck is owned by Horsleys, Ltd.
