TEENTHAM INQUIRIES

(N.Z, Press Association) WELLINGTON. In the Parliamentary Handicap at Trentham yesterday, Meldie (D. R. Tucker), which was handily placed in second position entering the straight, was unable to come on, although ridden out. Domodossola <R. B. Marsh) was also well placed for most iof the race, but faded. Marsh I said that near the three fur'longs Domodossola was not racing freely on the inside, so {he changed courses to the i outer. Domodossola was in the i clear in the straight, but under pressure could not respond. 1 Shortly after entering the • back straight, when the pace was fairly slack, Escameno (W. D. Skelton) and Monastic (R. J. Skelton), were in some difficulty towards the rear of the field, mainly because of their horses pulling at this stage. Proud Chief (N. D. Landers), although he was not far from the placed horses at the finish, did not improve a great deal during the run home. Landers said Proud Chief performed better when the ground was looser than it was yesterday. In the Members’ Handicap Hindi (L. K. Tinsley) returned to the birdcage lame, and the veterinary surgeon reported the horse had abrasions on the lower part of the off foreleg.
