NATIONAL PARTY CONFERENCE

(N.Z. Pres* association) WELLINGTON, July 8. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and his entire Cabinet will take the stage to answer unsolicited questions from delegates on current issues at the 33rd annual conference of the National Party later this month. Mr Holyoake will act as chairman for the session of one hour, which is labelled in the conference handbook, “Apswers From The Top," the party announced today. The conference will be held in the Wellington Town Hall on Saturday, July 26, continuing on the Monday. Immediately after the questions end, Mr Holyoake will make his “leader’s address," which is expected to deal with New Zealand’s growing role in international affairs, and to include a rallying call to the organisation as it moves into the final months of election year. Four Ministers, Instead of the usual three, will also give addresses. The Deputy Prime Minister

(Mr Marshall) will speak on “The National Government Looks To The Future,” the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand), “Towards New Industrial Relationships,” the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon), “Economic Progress,” and the Minister of Agriculture and Science (Mr Taiboys), "Farming Science and New Zealand.” Fifty-five remits will be de. bated, 10 before the full conference and the remainder in four remit committees. They range from lowering the voting age, to daily Bible reading on television; and from a review of local body rating, to Saturday opening for barbers' shops. The Young Nationals will hold a separate meeting on Sunday afternoon, July 27. In the evening, they will question the Minister of Transport (Mr Gordon), the Minister of Defence (Mr Thomson), Mr Muldoon, and the member for Rangiora, Mr H. E. L. Pickering.

Amateur Films.—“No Flowers for the Dead,” made by R. Whitaker, won the Monochrome Cup of the Christchurch Movie Club recently. “Steam Traction Rally,” made by L. Van Der Voort, won the Bailey Cup.
