Language Charge
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 7. Warren Ambrose Dibble, a writer, was remanded until July 11 when he appeared before Mr J. D. Murray, S.M., in the Dunedin Magistrate's Court this morning charged with using obscene language in a public place. Dibble, the present Robert Burns Fellow at the University of Otago, is charged with using obscene language in Castle Street on July 5. No plea was taken today. Appearing for. Dibble, Mr G. R. Whiting said he was seeking the remand on behalf of Mr M. J. Knuckey, the defendant’s counsel, who was out of Dunedin at present. Mr Whiting said that when Dibble appeared in court on Saturday it was intimated that he would plead not guilty. Bail of $lOO was renewed.
