Humperdinck’s Success

The pop singer, Englebert Humperdinck, has signed a contract worth about $4.3m for a television series for America.

The series, to be made in England, will put Humperdinck, aged 31—real name Gerry Dorsey—in the same money - earning bracket as Tom Jones.

Humperdinck was virtually unknown two years ago. He got his lucky break when a singer became ill before a London Palladium television show, and he was called in as a replacement
