Civil Defence “Important”
"Can I ask on whose authority we had that inflicted on us?” asked Cr L. P. Manion, after the Paparua County Council last evening had listened to a half-hour talk on civil defence from the Christchurch combined district civil defence officer (Mr J. A. Forrer). “We did not have a resolution, but I accept responsibility,” said the chairman (Mr D. H. Warren). “I thought it was important. We’ve got to get interested.” Cr Manion said the information could have been written down and read in five minutes. Cr A. V. Shuker said he had been a little disappointed, but it was most important that Mr Forrer should keep the council informed.
