tN-Z.P.A-Reuter— Copyright) MOSCOW, July 1. .The Soviet Communist Party newspaper “Pravda," said today that a major literary encyclopaedia published In Moscow was riddled with serious ideological errors and distortions of true Marxist views on literature. Professor R. Samarin accused the editorial board of tbe work of seven volumes, the “Short Literary Encyclopaedia,” of “sliding from Marxist positions and failing to take a definite stand in the struggle against the literature of imperialist reaction." ' Professor Samarin wrote in his article that the work contained “an unfounded panegyric of the late British novelist, Somerset Maugham, who was a major, but Unquestionably bourgeois, writer.”
